JTL-WMS ships with integrations for the big parcel carriers. For everyone else we build the plugin along the same pattern: label printed while packing, tracking number back to order and shop, sender per client.
The packer scans the order. The plugin knows the client, picks the shipping product by your rules (weight, country, shipping method on the order) and requests the label from the carrier's API. The label prints, the tracking number goes to the order in the ERP and from there to the shop, where the customer sees it.
No third-party portal, no copying numbers, no second screen. If the carrier's API is down, the plugin reports it at the packing desk and the order stays open instead of counting as shipped without a label.

Regional parcel services, freight forwarders, couriers, same-day providers: if the carrier has an API, we build the plugin along the pattern above. Without an API there is still the file export and import route, which we automate as well.
DHL, DPD, GLS, UPS, Hermes, DHL Express, FedEx and others JTL supports itself: we set them up and align shipping methods, products and rules.

Export from the WMS in the carrier's format, import of tracking numbers back. Less elegant, but nothing typed by hand.
